About IIITA

Indian Institute of information Technology, Allahabad was established in 1999 by Ministry of HRD, GOI, so as to become a unique and world class “Apex Centre of Excellence in IT and Allied Sciences” for enhancing the country’s technological strength and become a pace-setting Institute for other similar institute to be established in the future. The institute has accordingly established graduate courses in B.Tech (IT) and B.Tech (Electronics and Communication Engineering) at the Allahabad index campus and B.Tech (IT) in its Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Information Technology at Amethi. M.Tech (IT) courses are being conducted with specialization in Software Engineering, Intelligent Systems, Wireless Communications & Computing, Human Computer Interactions, Bioinformatics, Robotics and Microelectronics. Along with this, two years PG courses –MBA (IT) and MS (Cyber Law and Information Security) have been established and are well accepted by industry and society.There are several Research Scholars who are registered at IIIT, Allahabad and working towards thier Doctoral Thesis in different thrust areas.The institute has acadamic MoUs for exchange of students and faculty members with institutes such as CMU (USA), University of California, Riverside (USA), GIST (Korea), ETH, Zurich (Switzerland), MIT (USA), EPFL (Switzerland), CTIF Aalborg University (Denmark), Sunny Buffalo (USA), Canberra University (Australia) etc. The Institute has been ranked as All India 8th Engineering Institutes in the country just after seven IIT’s as per INDIA TODAY Review published on 6th June, 2007.

BY AIR - Bhamrauli: Allahabad Airport is about 7 kms. from the Institute. Other nearest airports are at Varanasi (147 km) and Lucknow (210 km).

BY RAIL & ROAD - Allahabad is very well connected by Trains from both Delhi as well as Kolkata sides. Nearest Railway Station is Allahabad Junction. All Rajdhani, Superfast, Mail & Express trains have a halt at Allahabad Junction. Allahabad can also be reached from Varanasi and Lucknow by Road routes very conveniently. Allahabad junction is about 7 kms. from Institute, which is situated in Jhalwa, Allahabad (adj. Rajrooppur locality). Best is to alight on Platform No.1 side and hire an auto rickshaw for about Rs.100-150, depending upon day-night timings of your arrival.
